Aggregates such as limestone chip, rock chip, sand, cement, iron oxides, water and up to 85% of fly ash wastes from coal fired power stations can be used. All products are naturally air cured and can be readily handled within twenty four hours of manufacture in temperature ranges of five degrees centigrade plus. Temperatures below this range may require factory heating. Fly ash Today Fly ash is an accepted beneficial ingredient in the construction industry. It is a very fine, powdery material predominantly silica. The spherical shape of fly ash particles and the extreme fineness has a beneficial effect on the workability of concrete. The shape allows the concrete free movement and the fineness of the particle size allows better filling of voids resulting in less water content absorption. Because fly ash causes severe pollution of air and water, and the disposal of consumes large amounts of valuable land, the manufacture of concrete and bricks utilising fly ash is a major benefactor toward the environment.
